woodland
not your grandmother’s ranch
In this project 30E design transformed an unappealing brick ranch into a sleek modern home with all the latest bells and whistles from the likes of Nest, Lutron and Bang& Olufsen. Lighting, entertainment and heating and cooling systems can all be controlled through phone apps in addition to typical wall components.
The new floor plan divides the home into public and private living zones. 30E design converted the existing living room at the front of the house into a nursery and home office that are adjacent to the master suite in the private section of the home. This private portion can be closed off from the entertaining spaces via a series of pocketing doors results in total quiet even while large groups are enjoying themselves in the living areas. A guest suite is located off the living room. The walls and ceilings have been removed in the living and entertaining areas to create a vast, open space with fourteen-foot cathedral ceilings. Fifteen-foot sliding glass doors open onto the garden, further expanding the feeling of openness and airiness.
Dark woods, black metal, sleek surfaces and sculptural lighting combine to create a sophisticated, stylish interior that creates this beautifully updated version of a classic mid-century home. New concrete hardscape, stainless steel railings and black paint transform the outdated brick exterior into a sleek, contemporary 21st century abode.
